Tax advice

Let's find out what tax advice is!

Contrary to what many people think, it is not a mystical, supernatural process. It is true that tax advice is a rather complex and complicated service. It requires a very high level of expertise in all areas of taxation. Perhaps this complexity gives rise to the aforementioned perception, which, as a practising tax adviser, I would say may even be justified. Well, feelings aside, it is important to know that tax advice is indeed directly linked to the tax obligations of businesses. Tax advice is part of the service provided by any firm of accountants that takes its business seriously. It is therefore not surprising that our firm also offers tax advice. Partly because our clients demand it, and partly because we make it a priority to ensure that our clients operate safely and legally.
There is no area of taxation that is not covered by tax advice.
Of course, not everyone can be a tax adviser. It is restricted by quite strict rules. Only those who are registered with the Ministry of Finance may act as tax advisers. The minimum requirement for working as a tax adviser is to have at least an OKJ qualification as a tax adviser.

We have compiled a list of tasks that fall within the scope of tax consultancy.

Below is a short list (not exhaustive) of the tasks of a tax adviser:

  • Preparation and review of tax returns.
  • Review of tax current accounts, representation of clients before the tax authorities.
  • Control of the accounting conditions related to the declarations.
  • Preparation of submissions required for various tax authority procedures.
  • Tax advice when establishing a company, transforming it, or when the business is terminated.
  • Audit of various corporate transactions from a tax point of view, tax planning.
  • If required, preparation of expert tax opinions.
  • Preparation of tax returns for both private and legal entities.
  • If the client is a foreign company, present them with the Hungarian economic and tax environment.
  • Develop optimal tax conditions for clients. (tax optimization)

Although many people think that tax consultancy is an accounting activity in itself, perhaps this short list has helped to show that it goes far beyond that.
We would like to highlight one of the items on the list. Although it is in brackets in the list, it is worth saying a few words about. This is tax optimisation. We highlight this because we want to dispel a misconception. Many people think it is something illegal. Tax optimisation in the context of tax advice is not tax avoidance!
Tax optimisation in the context of tax advice is tax optimisation within a legal framework. What we are saying is that tax planning is possible by knowing the law and complying with it. And what can be planned can be optimised. Why pay more tax than you have to? Right? Well, that's what tax optimisation is all about. Achieving an optimal tax rate through deliberate planning.
